February 2011 Newsletter Update
February 18, 2011A chairde go leir,
Green Schools:
We are delighted that our application for renewal of the international Green Flag has been successful. Congratulations to all the children for the great efforts they are making in keeping our school free of
litter and for their recycling efforts. Well done especially to the Green School committee who spearheaded the various activities. They have now started on the road towards attaining their next Green Flag for energy awareness and savings.
Seachtain na Gaeilge: 14 – 16th March
During the above week we will be running quizzes, competitions, art activities, Irish dancing, Irish story readings etc to help foster a love of the Irish language.
Dean iarracht “cupla focail” a labhairt as Gaeilge i rith na seachtaine.
Cork Primary School Sport:
We have just been informed that the date for the above sports is Friday May 13th in Pairc Ui Caoimh –
earlier than normal to avoid clashing with GAA fixtures.
As normal, under the rules of entry, each school must contribute to the annual draw. Therefore your child has books of tickets going home today. All tickets sold or unsold to be returned to the school by
March 07th.
Gymnastics:
Gymnastic classes will run in school for 6 weeks beginning Friday March 04th and continue for the following 6 weeks (excluding Friday march 18th). The cost per pupil is €2.00 per week. Total cost €12.00. These classes will take place during the normal school day. Therefore all pupils should wear their tracksuits on those Fridays.
Sciath na Scol:
Training is now in full swing for the Sciath na Scol hurling competition. Match fixtures will be made at the AGM on Tuesday March 08th.

We are working on developing our school website and the newsletters are posted on it. We hope in the near future to have a parents council and pupils section on it and also to post items of school interest on it regularly.
