The tarring of the school car park was completed over the Easter break and has met with the approval of all our small people especially those with wheelie bags!

The Board has reviewed the Health, Safety and Welfare Policy and it is available in the school office for any parent /guardian who may wish to read it.

Our Parents Association have been working away all year and I would encourage you all to give them your support with the cake sale in May, the Marathon in June, gardening or grass cutting. The money raised from these events will cover the cost of the buses for the school tours so every household will benefit from this work.  Unfortunately I won’t be able to make the May meeting but I hope to meet as many of you as possible at the June meeting.

A widget calendar has been added to our website. You will be able to remind yourself of the event that will be taking place over the coming weeks. Our school website address is shanagarryns.scoilnet.ie

Well done to 1st and 2nd class who played in their first school blitz which was organised by St. Colman’s Hurling and Football Club.   Every child got to play and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Our thanks to Sean Crowley and his two helpers, Ross and Josh, who came to train every Wednesday for the past few weeks.

The very best of luck to our 3rd –  6th mixed –  boys and girls – hurling team who will travel to Vicarstown next week to play their last two matches. Every player has already had match time and they’re all looking forward to another opportunity to show their skills next Wednesday.

We are in the process of running off trial races to decide who will represent our school in Cork City Sports.

Over the next few weeks classes 1st-6th will be divided into six mixed groups to explore, read and discuss a novel.

Reminder;  To encourage your child to develop the habit of saving money Sammy Squirrel Saving stamps are on sale in the office every Wednesday.

Holy Family N.S. is a health promoting school so please ensure your child has a healthy lunch.

Finally as we enjoy this fine weather please ensure that your child has enough to drink, has sunscreen on coming to school or for older children that they have a bottle of sunscreen in their bag.
